Two Common Tall Grass Prairie Grasses

Big bluestem, also known as turkey foot grass due to the way it is shaped, is a characteristic grass of the prairie. This grass can grow to several meters in height. Dispersed by wind, it is also a grass that bison seek to graze. Side Oats Gramma is another common grass, and its name is derived from the location of its seeds on one side of the grass.
