Silver Leaf Psoralea

The Living Prairie Museum is located in an area of the city of Winnipeg called 'Silver Heights'. 'Silver' refers to the abundance of silver-coloured vegetation in the area, including: Silverleaf psoralea, Wolf-willow and Sage, and ‘heights’ refers to its topography, one higher than other areas in the city. This elevation is beneficial in cases of flooding.

Silverleaf psoralea has been traditionally used to treat wounds and fevers in humans, yet it is harmful to livestock. It is not desired by farmers with animals, but is found in abundance in pasturelands and can be observed as "tumble weeds" in the fall.
